We’re officially a Disability Confident Leader

We’re incredibly proud to announce that we’ve achieved Disability Confident Leader (Level 3) status - the highest level of accreditation within the UK Government’s Disability Confident scheme.

This recognition, which has been independently validated, celebrates our ongoing commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and equality in the workplace.

Our Disability Confident Leader status is valid until 2028 and demonstrates that we’re not just talking about inclusion — we’re actively living it.

But don’t just take our word for it.

Here’s the perspective from some of our colleagues who live with disabilities. 

After first volunteering with us on a six-week placement through the Rossendale Trust, Ashley has been a permanent Leek Building Society colleague for nearly three years.

Working as our Tuck Shop Co-ordinator, Ashley plays a vital role in ensuring every Head Office colleague has access to the snacks and refreshments they need to power them through their day.

All profits made from the tuck shop go to our Charitable Foundation. Since 2022, with the help of Ashley, our tuck shop has raised over £5,000 for our Charitable Foundation.

Having worked for the Society for over three years, Megan continues to play an instrumental part in our Mortgage Servicing department, supporting the end-to-end journey for our mortgage customers.

Achieving this milestone of being a Disability Confident Leader reflects how we live our purpose every day: being a force for good to help our communities grow so they can do great things today - and even better things tomorrow.
