What the Bank of England base rate change means for you

BoE reduced from 4.00% to 3.75% on 18 December.

On Thursday 18 December, the Bank of England announced a 0.25% decrease in the base rate from 4.00% to 3.75%. As a mutual building society committed to putting our members first, we want to make sure the changes we make to interest rates remain fair to both our mortgage and savings members.

Standard variable rate (SVR)

Our SVR will remain the same at 7.34%. 

Base rate tracker mortgages

  • These mortgages will decrease by 0.25% from 1 February 2026.

Savings rates

  • Most of our variable rate savings accounts will see an interest rate decrease from 9 January 2026. Our children's and notice account rates are staying the same. 
  • Affected members will receive a letter detailing the new interest rate
