As part of our ongoing commitment to make a real difference health in the communities we serve, we’re pleased to have provided Universal Fitness, a gym located in Stoke-on-Trent, with a defibrillator.
This new AED unit marks the fifteenth unit we’ve installed as part of our defibrillator programme to enhance safety across the region. Ensuring the safety of our community members, particularly in active environments like this fitness facility, is a key focus for us. Sudden cardiac arrests can happen without warning, and having a defibrillator on hand significantly increases the chances of survival.
Our Hanley Branch Manager, Kieran Fallows, said:
“Having a defibrillator available at a gym is vital. After seeing first-hand where this equipment has been used in a gym facility, I know how important it is and believe a gym shouldn’t be without one. Knowing we can offer this support to a gym facility in our local area is fantastic and it’s just another amazing way we’re supporting our community to ensure they have the tools to keep someone alive.”
Our defibrillator programme aims to make these life-saving devices accessible across Staffordshire, Cheshire, Derbyshire and Shropshire, to help achieve a safer environment for everyone.
Yvonne Walters, Personal Trainer at Universal Fitness shared her thoughts on this significant contribution:
“Thank you to Leek Building Society. We’re incredibly grateful to have a defibrillator here at Universal Fitness. This vital device ensures the safety and wellbeing of our members by providing immediate help in case of a cardiac emergency, significantly increasing the chances of survival and recovery for our members.”
