On Tuesday 9 April, we were pleased to sponsor Staffordshire FA's Women's Challenge Cup Final at Stafford Town, marking a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to fostering women's and girl's football across Staffordshire.

We launched our three-year partnership with Staffordshire FA in 2023, with the purpose of supporting the development and growth of women’s and girls’ grassroots football in our local community.

Congratulations go to both Leek Town FC and Sporting Khalsa for reaching the final. Both teams displayed high levels of dedication, skill and teamwork and with a 3-1 win, Sporting Khalsa lifted the cup.

Our Deputy Chief Executive, Darren Ditchburn who watched the exciting match play out said:

"We're thrilled to continue our ongoing support for women's football in Staffordshire through our sponsorship of the Women's Challenge Cup Final, in partnership with Staffordshire FA. This collaboration aims to foster inclusive opportunities for female athletes to thrive in football and inspire a new generation of players. Congratulations to both finalists, Leek Town and Sporting Khalsa, for their outstanding performance in what was an exciting match with Sporting Khalsa emerging as the deserving winners."

The Women’s Challenge Cup is one of 14 cup finals Staffordshire FA are hosting this year. Our partnership with Staffordshire FA extends beyond the Women’s Challenge Cup to the Girls U16’s Cup Final at Stafford Town on Tuesday 30 April. This next event will be full of entertainment, with a variety of pre-match family activities provided.

Leek Building Society invites all football enthusiasts and supporters of gender equality in sports to attend the event and show their support for the players. The Cup Finals serve as an excellent opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women and girls in football and inspire future generations to pursue their passion for the sport.
